Diabetes and Parenting Studies

Welcome to the diabetes and parenting research homepage. Our research group is currently running two research projects, based on the Triple P Positive Parenting Program. Triple P is used worldwide to help families build on their own knowledge and skills. It offers positive parenting advice and focuses on making small changes to achieve big differences. We want to see if this can be a helpful tool for families with diabetes. The aim is to promote happy and healthy family life.

If you are interested it is possible to take part in either study, or even both if you would like. Further information on each project can be accessed below.

Diabetes and Parenting Support

Triple P resources contain helpful advice for general child and parent relations. They also address common themes that are associated with chronic conditions including advice for reducing family stress, helping siblings cope and reducing anxiety. We are running a research project to see if these Triple P resources can provide useful support that adolescents with diabetes, their siblings, and parents can benefit from. Diabetes and Parenting Survey

Triple P offers practical parenting tips to support the development of positive attitudes, skills and behaviour within the family unit. The purpose of this survey is to establish the usefulness and acceptability of the Triple P program for parents of adolescents with diabetes. The involvement of parents, like you, is invaluable to this exploratory research, enabling the future development of Triple P, to be responsive to your views.

Many thanks, Sarah Woodhead
